HERNDON, Kan. -- Keith O. Olson, 83, died Sunday (Dec. 12, 2015), at Via Christie St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Rawlins County, Kansas, to Robert Lee and Hattie Eleanora (Schmidt) Olson. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a farmer and rancher on the family farm south of Herndon. He married Mary Lou Bendon March 10, 1957, at the Oberlin United Methodist Church in Oberlin.

He was a member of Herndon Covenant Church and Atwood American Legion Post No. 46.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Hattie (Schmidt) Olson; daughter, Julie Beth Witt; son, Rex Alan Olson; and great-grandson, Oliver Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Olson of rural Herndon; children, Mark (Barbara) Olson of Hoxie; brothers, Robert Olson of Salina and Dale Olson of Colby; sister, Maxine (Bill) Peebles of Denver, Colorado; son-in-law, James (Kimberly) Witt of Oberlin; sisters-in-law, Cecil Hess of Oberlin and Marianna Bendon of Midlothian, Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, 10 a.m. at Herndon Covenant Church in rural Herdon with the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Saturday after 8 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to the church. Online condolences may be left at www.paulsfh.com
