Violet Lucille Foster

JENNINGS, Kan. -- Violet Lucille Foster, 93, died Friday (July 31, 2015), at Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas.

She was born March 2, 1922, in Jennings to Frank J. "Ted" and Della (Van Sickel) Dodson Jr. She grew up on a farm southwest of Jennings. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1944 and attended Fort Hays Teachers College Normal Training. She taught school before her marriage. She married Melvin R. Foster on Oct. 2, 1942. She was a member of Jennings United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, F. J. "Ted" and Della Dodson; husband, Melvin Foster; and four sisters, Bonnie Perrell, Frances Courange, Ila May Macey and Norma Richard.

Survivors include her children, Frank (Becky) Foster of Amarillo, Texas and Pat Hall of Jennings; two grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, 2 p.m. at United Metodist Church in Jennings with the Rev. Ed Woods officiating. Interment is at the Jennings Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Saturday after 11 a.m. at the church in Jennings. Memorials may be given in her name. Online condolences may be left at www.paulsfh.com.
