The McCook Junior High School boys track and field team had several individual school record efforts during the 2015 season.

DJ Gross may be the next great Bison thrower. Gross, an eighth-grader set two new junior high records in the throwing events. The old records had stood nearly 30 years.

Gross threw the junior high shot put 51 feet, 9 ½ inches, eclipsing the old McCook Junior High mark of 47-6 set by Steve Frost in 1987.

Gross also threw the junior high discus 167 feet, 1 inch to break the old McCook junior high mark of 154-3 set in 1987 by Kevin Whyrick.

CAMERYN BERRY set two new McCook Junior High records. Berry was timed in 57.14 seconds in the 400-meter dash, beating Joe Schlager's old mark of 60.74 set in 2011. Berry also ran the 800-meter dash in 2 minutes, 9.9 seconds, beating the old record of 2:30.0 set by Lucas Post in 2010.

Landon Towne also went 9 feet, 10 inches in the pole vault to snap McCook's previous Junior High mark of 8 feet even by Richard Johnson in 2014.

THE McCOOK 400-meter relay quartet of Landon Towne, Cooper Lines, Cam Berry and Corbin Jernigan combined for a time of 49.54 seconds, breaking the old record of 52.74 seconds set in 2013 by the team of Ethan Wilcox, Drew Harvie, Zach Schlager and Tristen Kleckner.
