Wednesday night's downpour in Southwest Nebraska washed out roads and ravines near Max and pushed the Republican River near Stratton out of its banks as well as doing extensive damage in Benkelman. "It's just amazing the power of water," said Angie Martus, who provided several pictures to the Gazette. The storm also left drifts of hail.
