Robert Wayne Rath

MISSOULA, Mont. -- Robert Wayne Rath, 74, of St. Regis, Montana, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at Village Health Care Center in Missoula, MT.

He was born May 11, 1941, to Wayne and Marjorie (Beattie) Rath.

He lived on a creek north of Stratton, Nebraska, until the age of seven, when the family moved into town. He attended Stratton Elementary and High School and graduated in 1959.

He worked for Burlington Northern for a time and married Judy Burger. He then went to work for Miller Rod Weeder in Stratton as a welder. Later he moved to Denver, Co, and went to work for Tempte Truck Trailers and met and married Regina Diane Powell.

On a visit to Diane's sister and brother-in-law in Missoula, Montana, they fell in love with Montana and soon relocated to a beautiful spot on the Clark Fork River between Superior and St. Regis, where Bob, despite an old football injury, was able to enjoy his favorite passions -- hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed being on the Search and Rescue Team until his knee injury prevented it, along with wood working and catching rattlesnakes, which earned him the nick-name "Rattlesnake Bob."

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; his parents; and brother, Garry.

He is survived by his sister, Sharolyn Troutman; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Nina Lines; nieces, Mardi, Rhonda and Christy; nephews ,Troy, Trevor and Ron and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

His wishes were to be cremated and there will be a memorial service at the Methodist Church, 205 First Street, Superior, Montana, on Tuesday, May 19 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Waveland King officiating.
