City issues warning on frozen pipes

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

McCOOK, Neb. -- With night temperatures dipping below zero, the McCook Water Department is reminding customers that it may be necessary to leave a faucet drip to prevent pipes from freezing.

* Let a rapid drip of water run from the faucet farthest from where water enters your house.

* Leave cabinet doors open under sinks so room heat can reach the pipes.

* Run both your hot and cold faucets regularly. This helps keep pipes warm.

* Pipes in unheated areas of the home may need to be heat taped and insulated.
