Ten-year-old Mycala Jones of Maywood, Nebraska, helps "socialize" her niece Raelene Lannings' calf before the beef show at the Frontier County Fair Friday morning in Stockville. During the Clover Kids' beef show, 6-year-old Taren Sailor shyly visited with judge Justin Taubenheim of Amherst. She named her calf "Slobbers," she told Taubenheim, " 'cause that's what he does." Taubenheim said he was impressed with the "quality of cattle and kids" in Frontier County, thanking the parents, grandparents and 4-H leaders involved in their development. He appreciated the 4-H'ers "competence and confidence," he said, quizzing showmen like purple-ribbon-winner senior Tate Lueth about their calves' breed and feed.
