Tuesday deadline for Prairie Land Food orders

Friday, June 13, 2014

McCOOK, Neb. -- Summer is full of activities, so the cook doesn't want to be trapped in the kitchen all the time. Prairie Land Food can help with that. The June menu offers several specials that provide quick, nutritious meals. The regular Prairie Pak always includes meat and produce items to make meal time quick and healthy.

Prairie Land Food offers all families, regardless of income, a variety of nutritious grocery packages to fit any size of family or budget. Larger orders from groups or organizations are also welcome.

The basic Prairie Pak includes five meat items along with seven types of fresh fruits or vegetables, all for only $29. Meat items can be purchased separately, as can the fruit/veggie package.

There are also monthly specials. June specials include a grilling package, chuck steak burgers, Tyson breakfast sandwiches, and breaded chicken breasts.

A bonus item this month is a red velvet cake. It would be great for a 4th of July party. It can be ordered with the purchase of any other item.

June 17 is the deadline for ordering this month. There is no limit to the number of items purchased. Orders can be placed at a local site using cash, check, or SNAP/food stamps. Online orders at june@prairielandfood.com can be paid for with credit card, debit card, bank draft, or SNAP. This is a secure website.

Food will be available for pickup at the McCook YMCA on Saturday, June 28, from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.

Prairie Land Food is offered in southwest Nebraska through the Family Resource Center, an agency which has provided a number of no-cost services for families since 1996. The Center is located at 1010 East 6th Street; the phone number is 308-345-2609.

Orders may also be placed through Darlene Leahy at 308-334-5353 in Trenton and Gary Scott at 308-350-3923 in Indianola.
