Three council seats open

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Three McCook City Council seats will be filled this election year. Candidates wishing to file for a seat on the council have until March 3, 2014, to file with the office of City Clerk Lea Ann Doak.

Incumbents, Dennis Berry, Mike Gonzales and Bruce McDowell, have until Feb. 18, 2014, to file. There is an $18 filing fee which must be paid to the City of McCook at filing.

City council members must be residents and registered voters of the city and hold no other employment with the city. They may hold other elective office as provided by state law, according to city ordinance.
