Former McCook broadcaster dies

QUNICY, Illinois -- A former McCook, Nebraska, broadcaster has died in Quincy.

John Herbert Holm, 84, died June 3, 2013, in Sunset Home.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Feb. 23, 1929. He attended Northwestern University Journalism School and graduated from Columbia Broadcasting College in Chicago.

He started his broadcasting career in WGRY in Gary, Indiana. He and his wife, Pat, moved to McCook, Nebraska, where he was employed at KBRL and KICX for 12 years. He later worked at WTAD in Quincy in 1970. His final broadcast at WTAD was in August 2012.

Funeral services were June 8 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy.
