McCOOK, Nebraska -- The McCook Game On store is hosting a free gaming event Saturday in celebration of International Table Top Day. The event is open to the public and focuses on providing an opportunity to learn and play new board and card games. Participants will be treated to free pizza throughout the day, provided by Pizza Hut, with activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Game On's Westview Plaza location.

Game On will have open copies of the most popular games from the "TableTop" YouTube series available to play. Games to be featured include Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, Castle Panic, Pandemic, Munchkin and many more.

Participants will also be registered for special prizes and giveaways to be given out throughout the day, including full board games and exclusive promos and gift cards. Players get an entry for each board game they play and get an additional entry if they teach a new person a game.

Players can also watch the TableTop series on YouTube to learn games in advance of the event.

"It's going to be a fantastic day to play new board games. We will have staff available to teach all the games as people come in and players can also bring their own favorite board game to play," said Cody Dame, Game On owner.

"It's a natural extension of what we do on a daily and weekly basis, with the large selection of exciting board games we carry in stock and our weekly board game events," said Dame.

The flexibility TableTop day offers, with no charge to attend and game times varying from 10 minutes to one hour, should be appealing to experienced board game players as well as those simply looking for something new.

"Stop in anytime during the day to join a game and stay as long as you can," said Dame, adding that there would be no need to leave for food, as it would be provided free of charge by Pizza Hut of McCook.

"TableTop Day is a great excuse for families and individuals to come together and enjoy a board game around the table, and what goes best with a night of gaming? Pizza. Pizza Hut is proud to be a sponsor of this event at Game On," said Phil Corey, restaurant manager at the McCook Pizza Hut.

According to Game On, International TableTop Day was created and inspired by the premium YouTube Channel, Geek & Sundry. Geek & Sundry's TableTop series is hosted by Star Trek Next Generation's Wil Wheaton and has become a geek sensation over the past year. TableTop features the best of indie geek culture and the internet's foremost geek voices; offering a diverse line-up of players that come together to battle it out over the games they love.
