The wind has a flavor -- dirt -- and it creates feelings -- urgency -- when it rips branches out of trees and tears down power lines. McCook, Nebraska, firefighters (above, firefighter/paramedic Rick Metcalf), volunteer firefighters and Nebraska Public Power District linesmen responded to downed power lines twice during the morning, this one in the backyard of 402 East Second. The highest gust throughout the morning was clocked at 60 miles an hour.
