McCook Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary installs new officers

Delegates to the State Convention in Kearney, Sandra Constant, Yvonne Hager, Ree Smock, Eleanor Zumalt, Janice Peters, Barbara Masur, and Ann Frost

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary installed new officers for the 2012/2013 term on June 3rd at the Eagles Home. The new officers are Madam President Ree Smock, Jr. Past Madam President Sandra Constant, Madam Vice President Sandy Stapp, Madam Chaplin Janice Peters, Madam Conductress Barbara Masur, Madam Inside Guard Dorothy Hopkins, Madam Secretary Ann Frost, Madam Treasurer Brenda Peters, Outside Guard Evelyn Warner, and Madam Trustees C. J Tiffney, Yvonne Hager. The installation was followed by our annual Memorial Service to remember those members who passed away during the 2011/2012 term. The Ladies Auxiliary members are looking forward to much fun and exciting activities this term to raise monies for our charities. We started the new term with a meeting on June 12. Members were asked to submit ideas for fund raising for our local McCook charities and to select their committee members for the Thursday Bingo kitchens. New working committees were selected and plans were made for attending the upcoming state convention in Kearney June 14 through June 16. Delegates for this year were selected, Ree Smock, Sandra Constant, Eleanor Zumalt, and Janice Peters. The convention was very successful and the year will be one of much work and many activities. Our new State President Anita Bishop has chosen as her state charity Domestic Violence. We will be supporting her efforts to help this organization with donations and activities. Our June 26 meeting theme was "Happy Feet" and everyone was asked to make their feet happy by wearing unusual shoes. Everyone had a good laugh over the shoes. Our State Auxiliary has asked that each auxiliary concentrate on adding new members this year so we can continue our work of "People Helping People". We will be having a membership drive during Crazy Days in downtown McCook on July 21, and we are setting up a table where the community can stop by and ask questions about our organization and/or obtain an application to join. This term we have added a new Historian committee headed by C. J. Tiffney who will be conducting research into our past. She reported at the July 10 meeting that she has been working with the local library and the newspaper to obtain her information and she will be interviewing some our long time members. She will be documenting our beginning and our progress through the years in a document which we will publish later this year. This is starting to look like a very exciting year ahead. Our next meeting is July 24 at 7 p.m. at the aerie home.
