TRENTON, Nebraska -- Helen Leona (Brodehl) Roach was born April 9, 1920 in Goodrich, North Dakota to John Brodehl and Katherine (Plines) Brodehl, the youngest of nine children. She entered into eternal life on March 4. 2012, at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas.

In 1933, Helen moved to Denver, Colorado, after the death of her parents. There she met James Leonard Roach in 1937 and they were marned Dec. 21, 1940. To this union two children were born, Pamela of Norton, Kansas and Michael of Omaha, Nebraska.

Together they owned and operated a bar and cafe in Denver before moving to Trenton, Nebraska in 1950. In Trenton they owned and operated the Pioneer Club until 1955.

She was a member of the St. James Altar Society. She moved to Norton Kansas in 2002.

Helen spent her life as a devoted and loving wife, mother and working woman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, on Dec. 8, 1983; her parents; brothers, Arnold, John, Garvin, Ewald, Bill and sisters, Sally Stilts, Emma Hostettler and Martha Waginitz.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Ballinger and husband, Joe of Norton, Kansas; son, Michael and friend, Kathy of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Michelle Prewo and husband, Paul of Logan, Kansas, Aaron Stoney and wife, Shawna of McCook, Nebraska and Keith Stoney and wife, Bethany of Great Bend, Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Melissa Leiker, Ryan and Helen Rose Prewo, and Tierra and Kaitlyn Stoney.

Rosary will be 7:30 p.m.. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton, Nebraska with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Trenton, Nebraska.

Visitation will be at Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton on Tuesday evening and Wednesday until time of rosary. Memorials may be given in her name and left at the faneral home.

Herrmann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
