Annual home show arrives just in time

Thursday, February 23, 2012

It's been a little windy, but if this week's weather hasn't given you a bad case of spring fever, you will be infected by this weekend, when it's predicted to be in the mid-50s with sunny skies.

That's good, because that's when the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce's 22nd annual Home & Leisure Show is set to take place at the new Army Reserve Center, just east of McCook on U.S. Highway 6-34.

The home show will be open Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults, children 12 and under free, but you also have a chance to win one of two $250 gift certificates to be spent with any of the home show vendors.

If you haven't yet visited the new facility, this would be a good chance, it's modern, roomy, and includes energy-saving features you might like to have in your own home, such as ground-source heat pumps.

If you haven't mapped out your home-improvement plans for this summer, don't worry, home show vendors will have plenty of ideas.

You will see the latest in basics such as siding, doors, windows, roofing, weatherization and other products to keep the inclement weather outside and the comfortable conditions inside.

You'll also get ideas for that new kitchen you've been longing for, decorating ideas and ideas for keeping your family safe from fire, intruders, radon and impure water.

But it's not just about the structure of your home. There will be plenty of fun, whether it's home electronics, special foods, spas, electronics and wireless communications, personal products and kitchen gear.

And don't miss the McCook Daily Gazette's booth, where we'll offer special subscription deals and other products and services.

We'll see you there.
