SCOTTSBLUFF, Nebraska -- Eva Lyn (Baker) Hehnke, 99, died Monday (Nov. 22, 2010), at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

She was born Dec. 8, 1910, to DeWitt Clinton Baker and Eva Luella (Fox) Baker in Bartley, Nebraska. She was the youngest of 10 children. She attended school in Bartley. She graduated in 1928.

She taught school the next year in a country school north of Bartley and then she went to Lincoln to attend cosmetology school. She worked in several beauty salons in eastern Nebraska before moving to Scottsbluff in 1935 to work at a barber shop.

She married Otto John Hehnke Jr. on June 18, 1938. She was a homemaker all of her married life. After her husband's death, she worked for one year in the cafeteria at Scottsbluff High School, and then worked at the L.B. Murphy Store in Scottsbluff as an alteration lady.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; and husband Otto.

She is survived by her daughter Karen and husband, James Boge of Gering, Nebraska; son, Otto John and wife, Carol Hehnke III of Wichita, Kansas; four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandsons.

Funeral services were today at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Matt Fowler officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.
