ELWOOD -- Alice L. Wade, 94, died Tuesday (March 2, 2010) at Tri County Hospital in Lexington.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1916, to George and Mary Ellen (Kleffman) Fong at the family farm, in the Turkey Creek area south of Elwood. She attended the Robbins country school through the 8th grade, and then graduated from Elwood High School.

In 1934 she married Lowell Wade of Elwood. She lived her entire life in the Elwood area, where she farmed and raised Hereford cattle.

She was a member of the Elwood Christian Church and the Elwood Senior Center. She was a 4-H leader, and belonged to the neighborhood HOA Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Wade; her parents, George and Mary Ellen Fong; one son, Lowell Dennis Wade; one grandson, Lowell Chad Wade; one daughter-in-law, Barb Wade; sisters, Gurnie Frazell, Inez "Peggy" Lervig, Mabelle McGraw, Eunice McGraw; and brother, Wesley Fong.

Survivors include her son, Bob Wade of Johnson Lake; one daughter, Marilyn and husband, Myron Dawson of Elwood; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and several step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Elwood Christian Church in Elwood with the Rev. Linda Newman officiating. Interment will be at Elwood Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation is Friday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Elwood Funeral Home in Elwood.
