Yes, Virginia II

Dear Editor,

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He's known as the U.S. Government and in the finest Robin Hood tradition, takes from the future to give to the present.

Your little friends have been affected by the skepticism of our skeptical age.

They do not believe except what they see. They are too young to see all the gifts -- welfare, food stamps, Social Security, free health care for all, including illegal aliens, aid to dependent mothers with illegitimate children, college loans, home loans, emergency loans and refugee loans; subsidies for farmers, businessmen and millionaires. What's left over goes to foreign countries, abortionists and the self-induced AIDS disease.

Your friends think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, are little compared to the computers in government.

In this great One World of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with boundless and great government about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole truth and knowledge that government knows best.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus Government. He exists as certainly as the free lunch and godless classroom exists, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.

Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus Government. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no latchkey children then, no taxes, no working parents joyfully striving to make ends meet. We would have no sense of worth except in self-sufficiency and personal accomplishment. The eternal television light, which terminates childhood at the age of five, would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus Government? You might as well not believe in fairies and honest officials. No Santa Claus Government! Thank the politicians he lives, and he lives and dispenses goodies forever, in return for votes.
