OBERLIN -- Oberlin police recovered a Freightliner truck stolen June 26 in Williston, N.D., , after the truck's driver drove away without paying for gas in Oberlin.

The Williston Herald newspaper reports that the stolen truck may be connected to two burglaries in Williston.

The Herald's story indicates that a burglary was reported at the office of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Saturday. Sometime between 6 p.m. on Friday and 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, someone broke a window at the railway offices, entered the office and stole a laptop computer and a generator.

That same evening, a 2007 Freightliner owned by BNSF Railway was stolen from the parking lot.

Also Friday night, someone broke a window and entered the Williston Police Department's pistol range, located near the railroad tracks, and damaged some locks and a CD player.

The truck was recovered when police in Oberlin arrested the driver in connection with a drive-off at a gas station and the truck was discovered to have been stolen. The man, whose name has not been released, is held on misdemeanor charges relating to the drive-off.

The incident is still under investigation.
