McCook Midget Baseball League Cubs Division results through June 5

Here are the results of McCook Midget Baseball League games through June 5.

B&M Drywall Braves 3.

Community Hospital Reds 1

This game turned out to be a pitcher's duel with both teams recording nine strikeouts. The game also had two teams who are vying for the top spot in the league along with the Rockies.

The Braves were able to score first with one run in the bottom of the first. They were able to hold the lead until the third inning when the Reds tied the game at 1-1.

The Braves were able to get two hits in the fourth and scored tow runs to retake the lead 3-1. The Reds went down in order in the fifth.

Braves leading hitters: Bret Baumbach had two singles, Bryson Trew doubled and Trevor Mtson singled.

Reds leading hitters: Lance Garcia and Bryce Lyons doubled and Noah Hofman singled

D&T Electric Giants 8,

Miller & Associates Red Sox 2

The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead and was able to contain the Giants until the third inning. Red Sox pitching struggled and the Giants took the free passes and collected five runs.

The Giants would drive home three more runs in the next two innings and Giants pitching struck out five of six batters in the fourth and fifth to claim a 8-2 victory.

Giants leading hitters: Caleb Suda had two singles and double. Austin Martin doubled and singled. Mitchell Reitz, Max Allen and Jonah Peterson singled.

Red Sox leading hitters: Kyle VanPelt doubled.

School Reflections Twins 8

Both teams entered the game with only one loss. The billing for this game was to be a great matchup and the teams did not disappoint those in attendance.

The Rockies could only put one runner on base in their half of the first. The Twins scored three runs in the first with Spencer Powell hitting his second home run of the season.

The Rockies scored three times in the second and held the Twins making it 3-3 after two. The Rockies came alive in the third scoring five runs and holding the Yankees to only one to take a 8-4 lead.

The Rockies scored a run in the fourth when Eric Eiler's single scored Kade Gray. The Yankees made a strong comeback, scoring four times to close the gap to within one. The Rockies added an insurance run in the fifth.

Rockies leading hitters: Taylor Williams had two singles, Eric Eiler three singles, Travis Wallen tripled and doubled and Delton Ulner doubled and singled.

Twins leading hitters: Spencer Powell belted a home run. Caleb Sheets and Darius Williams each doubled and singled. Trea Heathers and Isaac Larson singled.

First Central Bank Cardinals 15,

Stewart Construction Athletics 9

Two teams looking to get into the win column gave those in an attendance an exciting performance. The Athletics took an early lead 1-0 after one.

The Athletics scored two more runs in the top of the second, but the Cardinals scored eight runs to take an 8-3 lead.

The Athletics came back to tie the game at 9-9 after three and half innings, but the Cardinals answered with six runs in the bottom half and regained the lead 15-9. The Cardinals held the Athletics scoreless in the fifth to get their first win.

If only the camera was rolling in the first inning of the game. The Cardinals' Riley Loop hit a shot to right field. Joe Cuellar moved one step to his left, looked away to his right and moved his glove to the left and caught the ball.

"A catch that would make any highlight film and was the play of the night," said coach Greg Larson. "In case anyone did capture that catch

"I'm sure Joe's mom would like a copy it was definitely one of those moments you live for."

Cardinals leading hitters: Connor Lepper and Dunncan Fassler both doubled.

Luke Lichty had three singles, Marcus Eckhardt doubled, Riley Loup singled and Spencer Litner singled and doubled.

Athletics leading hitters: Drew Hoffman had two singles, Lance Kelly and Asic Helberg each had singles.

Century 21 Indians 7

The Yankees had a five-run lead after two innings.

The Indians kept chipping away and eventually had a one run lead going into the fifth.

The Yankees scored two runs in their half of the inning to go ahead 8-7 and were able to hold off the Indians charge.

Yankees leading hitters: Darius Williams doubled and singled and Spencer Powell doubled.

Isaac Larson had three singles and Caleb Sheets and Christian Olson each had a single.

Indians leading hitters: Colten Lashley tripled, Dalton Goodenberger added two singles and Nick Fuchuck singled.
