JENNINGS, Kan. -- Nettie O. Britton, 92, died Monday (June 8, 2009) at Plainville, Kan.

She was born Oct. 26, 1916, in rural Jennings to Henry and Helen (Skubal) Prachejl. She grew up on a farm southwest of Jennings and attended Jackson and Rock Island County Schools. She graduated from Jennings Junior/Senior High School.

On Dec. 22, 1934, she married Joe Britton in Norton, Kan. They lived on a farm near Jennings. They lived in Selden, Russell, Kan., and Oberlin, before moving to Plainville. She worked as a farmwife.

She was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge, EHU Willing Works, Happy Ten Quilting Club and ZCBJ Lodge No. 153.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Helen Prachejl; husband, Joe; son, James Britton; daughter-in-law, Frances Britton; brother, Louis Prachejl; and grandchildren, Wesley Maske, Michael Britton and Miny Britton.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty and husband, Robert Maske of Natoma, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Robert C. McCobb officiating. Interment will be in Big Timber Cemetery in rural Jennings.

Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Jennings Fire Department and Czech Museum.
