Official seeks tuition break for neighboring states

Friday, March 20, 2009

NORTH PLATTE -- The Mid Plains Community College president is asking the board of governors to let residents of neighboring states pay the same tuition as in-state residents.

The board will consider the issue at its regular meeting, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at North Platte Community College's north campus, Room 200.

The president, Dr. Michael Chipps, said his proposal would exclude railroad and accelerated EMT programs.

He is also recommending that the board approve the second reading of a policy to make all facilities properties owned or leased by MPCC to be tobacco free.

  • Why??? Cut the rates for in-state residents so some can at least afford to go to college.
