McCook YMCA swimmers wrap up season

HASTINGS -- The McCook YMCA swim team participated in the YMCA Championship Meet Saturday.

The meet was held in Hastings with teams from Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Beatrice, Fremont, Columbus, Blair, Grand Island, Hastings and McCook all in attendance.

Bringing home a blue ribbon was Becca Tietz winning her 25-yard butterfly event with a time of 20.82.

Other top three finishers from McCook were Becca Tietz in the 25-yard freestyle, 8 and under 100-yard free relay (Candace Coleman, Abby Smith, Chloe Williams, Becca Tietz), Stephen Hoffman in the 100-yard freestyle and Keegan Williams in the 100-yard breaststroke.

"Although this meet was a tough one, we enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with strong competition from the eastern part of the state," said McCook coach Tracy Flaska.

"We did struggle a bit with some of our performances. Overall, however, it was a good finish to the season."
