Dear Editor,

I am writing to you from to clarify that StoryCorps does not accept audio files from interviews that are not recorded on StoryCorps equipment ['New library equipment helps preserve oral history' http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1508461.html]. We encourage libraries, organizations, teachers, and individuals to record their stories and we provide do-it-yourself instruction guides on our website. But we are unable to archive these stories with the Library of Congress because of the specific arrangement we have. We encourage everyone to make copies and store them in a safe place. We also recommend sharing them online with friends and family and recommend a specific site where this is possible and easy to do. For more information, please visit www.storycorps.net/diy.

Many thanks,
