Letter to the Editor

Proud Rotarians

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Dear Editor,

As current McCook Rotary Club officers, Kellie Soden and I were pleased and proud to accept the Community Service Award for our club during the annual McCook Area Chamber of Commerce banquet Saturday night.

We couldn't help but notice that about 40 percent of our community-minded fellow club members were also in attendance.

We could see long-time Rotarians such as Pete Graff and John Hubert, as well as brand-new Rotarian Linda Dixon. Also present were Melanie Goodenberger, Pam Harsh, Doug Joyce, Rex Nelson, Tor Olson, Terri Shipshock, Doug Skiles, Shary Skiles, Richard Tubbs and Jim Ulrich.

It was especially nice that past Rotary District Gov. Cloyd Clark brought along Tom Kraus from Madrid, Neb., as his guest. Tom is the current district governor for 36 clubs in western Nebraska.

Those of us in attendance represented our entire club that is made up of many good folks who help make our local community and world community a better place to live.

We very much appreciate receiving this recognition award.

Sincerely,

Duane Tappe,

McCook
