Commissioners to discuss floods, weeds, eco-retreat

Red Willow County commissioners will discuss flood damages, weeds and an eco-retreat at their weekly meeting Monday morning, starting at 9 a.m., in the commissioners' room on the third floor of the courthouse in McCook.

In correspondence from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, the county will receive a disaster relief payment of $89,507.25 for damages to county property caused by floods in the spring of 2008.

At 9:15 a.m., county weed superintendent Bill Elliott will present to the commissioners his annual noxious weed control report that will be sent to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Plant Industry. The report outlines the county's efforts to control/eradicate noxious weed infestations.

At 9:30 a.m., commissioners will discuss/approve drawdowns for project costs and general administration for the Hilton Farm EcoRetreat community development block grant project being developed by Andela Taylor of rural Cambridge.

In other action, commissioners will:

* Appoint Mark Wacker of McCook to finish the term of Dan Wallen on the Red Willow County Planning Commission. Wallen died Dec. 4, 2008; Wacker's term as his replacement will end April 3, 2011.

* Approve the bond of Richard Klein of rural McCook, treasurer of the Red Willow Western Rural Fire Department.

* Discuss fracture critical bridge load rating notification from Olsson Associations with roads supervisor Gary Dicenta.

* Discuss a statement of understanding and proposal to present services for the jail and sheriff's office from HMN Architects Inc.
