Bison 9th girls fall to North Platte

The McCook High School freshman girls basketball team dropped to 1-1 on the year with a 36-15 loss to North Platte on Thursday at the high school gym.

"The girls played pretty good defense, but our offense really struggled tonight, said McCook coach Jon Graff said. "The girls played hard all game. After a disappointing first half, they really came out in the second half and fought back."

McCook was led in scoring by Emily Toliver with 5 points. Rachel Bradley added 4 and both Amanda Brush and KathrAnn Sides chipped in 2.

Sierra Ortiz and Rachel Bradley led the way with 6 rebounds each.

In the B game, McCook lost an exciting 10-9 game.

"The girls played hard and really enjoyed the game," Graff said. "We had our chance down the stretch and got a good last shot, but the ball rimmed out."

McCook was led in scoring by Haylee Carfield with 4 points. Portia Jameson and Shelby Allen both added 2 points.

McCook is next in action Saturday at 10 a.m. at the junior high gym against Dundy County.
