STRATTON -- Daniel Gene Swanson, 23, of Stratton, died Sunday (Dec. 7, 2008).
He was born Sept. 8, 1985, at Cheyenne, Wyo., to John W. and Gloria J. (Nelson) Swanson. He moved with his family to Stratton where he attended Stratton Public Schools. He graduated from Lakeside Central High School in 2004.
After high school, he worked for several area farmers, helping with everyday chores, working cattle, building fence and doing field work. He also helped many people with their yard work and mowed lawns for some of his neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alvin and Erna Nelson.
Survivors include his parents, John and Gloria Swanson of Stratton; brothers, twin Calvin Swanson of Stratton, Joseph Swanson of Colorado and Michael Swanson of Stratton; sisters, Amanda Swanson of Kearney, Nicole Swanson, and Jodie Swanson, both of Stratton; uncles, Dean Nelson and wife, Char of North Platte, Gene Nelson and wife, Julie of Mankato, Minn.; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be Friday at 10 a.m. (MST) at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Kevin Fink officiating. Services will conclude at the chapel. The family will gather for a private inurnment at a later time.
