Bison girls golf team 2nd at Lexington Invite

LEXINGTON -- The McCook High School girls golf team placed second at the 11-team Lexington Invitational Friday with a 401 score, and two Bison placed in the top 15 and earned medals.

Becky Goodenberger shot a 96 and won a playoff against three other players to claim the seventh-place medal.

McCook's Alex Trew notched the 14th-place medal with a 99.

Megan Rokusek just missed a medal with a 100. Shelby Allen fired a 106 and Cori O'Dea 107.

Minden won the team title with a 377 score. Broken Bow placed third with a 404 score, followed by Lexington 410, North Platte 411, Hastings 417, Perkins County 433, York 441, Gothenburg 44, Cozad 472 and Holdrege 519.

Minden's Allie Exstrom and Mackenzie Deutschmann paced the field with 87s. Exstrom won a the playoff for the first-place medal.

Hastings' Taylor Thompson placed third with an 88.

McCook will compete at the Gothenburg Invitational at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
