Letter to the Editor

Holbrook memories

Monday, February 18, 2008

Dear Editor,

Regarding the couple creating a unique shop in downtown Holbrook, I wish to make the following complimentary remarks, Connie Jo Discoe having written such a vivid description of the renovation being accomplished by Laurie Ramesbothom and husband Fred Baugher. Much history is involved in these buildings.

I plan to visit the involved couple with as much history as I remember. In September 1938, just out of high school, I went to work in that store, which was Philipson's IGA, owned and operated by Ben Philipson. During that time, all of the buildings along that street were occupied with businesses. Saturday night was a town full of people and a free show.

In March 1940, I resigned and went to work for Williams Brothers General Merchandise in Arapahoe.

Jack Wagner,

Arapahoe
