CAMBRIDGE -- Irene Mary (Witte) Kubik, 96, died Monday (Feb. 4, 2008), at Cambridge Manor.

She was born to Clement and Elisabeth (Ostdiek) Witte on a farm east of Lawrence, Kan., on April 23, 1911. She attended grade school at St, Stevens Parochial School in Lawrence.

On Feb. 2, 1933, she was united in marriage to Francis B. Kubik in Cambridge. They farmed south of Wilsonville, before moving to Cambridge in 1947. They were active in farming until their retirement in 1991.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Altar Society, as well as the Hearts and Hands Club. She was also active for many years with the Tri Valley Health System Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered as a pink lady and worked in the Auxiliary Thrift Shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis in 1999; an infant son; seven brothers, Alvin, Wilber, Herbert, Arthur, Gilbert, LeRoy and Edwin; and one sister, Vera Laughlin.

Survivors include her three sons, Larry and wife, Marilyn Morris and wife, Catherine, all of Cambridge and Douglas and wife, Cindy of Atkinson; two daughters, Phyllis and husband, Joseph Langan and Carole Watton of Derby, Kan.; brother, Gerald and wife, Jean Witte and sister, Patricia and husband, Gene Young, all of Cambridge; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., Thursday at the St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m., at the church, with the Rev. Tom Meguire officiating the Mass. Interment will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Cambridge

Memorials may be left in her name to the Tri Valley Health System or the Cambridge Library or the Cambridge School Foundation
