BEAVER CITY -- Florence H. Herren, 84, died Monday (Dec. 17, 2007), at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City.

She was born May 3, 1923, at Hendley to Fred and Anna (Holzworth) Brakhahn. She grew up in Hendley and attended Hendley High School.

She married George Herren on Nov. 16, 1940, at Beaver City. They farmed south of Hendley and moved into Hendley in 1943. They moved to Beaver City in 1962.

She worked at Brewster Hospital for several years and owned and operated the Mayo Nursing Home for several years from 1960, until the current Beaver City Manor opened in 1967. She worked at Beaver City Manor for a number of years.

After her husband's death on May 3, 1997, she moved to Beaver City Plaza and then to Beaver City Manor in 2007.

She was a member of First Christian Church at Beaver City.

Survivors include her two sons, George Jr., and wife, Myrna of Johnson Lake and Don and wife, Sharon of Kearney; two daughters, Betty and husband, Norman Gedge of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Nancy Fahnholz of Beaver City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 1:30 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, with Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Hendley Cemetery.

Visitation is today and Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., at the funeral home and prior to services on Friday.
