More senseless killings defy explanation

As more stories came out about the heroism of innocent employees and shoppers involved in the Omaha mall shootings, word of more inexplicable, horrific shootings filtered in from Colorado.

On the surface, and before much information has come forward, it appears to be a similar shooter, a troubled young man.

Worse, if the Denver and Colorado Springs shootings are indeed connected, it seems he targeted those who had only the best of intentions, the service of others.

It's a sad reminder as we enter the Christmas season, that we live in a world sorely in need of help.
