Letter to the Editor

Movie hits home

Monday, October 22, 2007

Dear Editor,

After reading the article in the Gazette this morning about Ben Eisenhart, Nebraska Husker from Southwest Nebraska and his love of his community of Culbertson, I wanted to share about the movie, “Final Season” at the local theater.

I went to this PG movie the other night and it reminded me not only of the community of McCook, but all of the small towns that have rallied around their teams.

Small-town struggles when there is talk about consolidating schools and the eventual consolidating of these schools is foremost in this film. You feel the hometown spirit, just as we do in McCook and all the small towns in Southwest Nebraska.

There are other lines in the story that every coach, parent, teen, grandparent, and those who love the community and kids should attend this movie. I went to the movie as it was filmed in my home state of Iowa, based on a true story. Hope you attend. If you miss it, you missed a teachable moment.
