Letter to the Editor

Dirty laundry

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Dear Editor,

First, I would like to say I'm disappointed with the article that Mr. Walt Sehnert wrote; usually I like his articles.

I have to wonder, are people in this town are so bored that they write articles in the paper? The situation with Jerry killing Travis. Come, folks, this happened 28 years ago; why does this have to be brought again? I have known this family all of my life; Dolly was like a second mom to me. And, if someone has to write an article about this situation, they know this family are all Christians and whenever their church doors are open, most of the time they are there.

Jerry's mother, sisters, nieces, nephews, have had to live with this tragedy every day of their lives.

I agree with the woman Kat who wrote in and said she had heard on the radio Paul Harvey made the comment that if you want to get away with murder, then move to McCook, Neb. When I was growing up, I often heard McCook is like little Chicago. I have heard on numerous occasions right outside the McCook limits on all four sides of McCook are the roads to the gates to hell. Folks, do we really want McCook to be known as this situation? I also agree with Kat (when she said) about Mrs. Fitzgibbons, who had been found hung, stabbed, a broken ankle and her house on fire, and as far as I know, they ruled (it) as a suicide.

I sure would like to know how she did this, and most recently, David Moreau was murdered. Does anyone know if his (killing) has been solved? I believe what goes around, comes around!

Thanks for letting me get this out.

Cheryl A. Larreau,

McCook

  • I think it is sad that innocent family members and friends of people who have broken the law to have to live with the repercussions of an event they had no control over in the first place. It must be difficult during the actual event, but years later to have it brought out in the local newspaper. I can only guess that they feel "whipped" all over again.

Reminiscing is supposed to be a "feel good" time, not something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
