The 2007 Red Willow County Fair netted $65,195 in profits, according to a report submitted to Red Willow County Commissioners at a regular meeting Monday morning.

Total expenses for 2007, including 4-H premiums to be paid in October, were $64,449.

The written report, re-quested by the commissioners and submitted by Deb Lafferty, fair manager, outlined profits and costs of the fair from 2006 to 2007. Lafferty was not present to answer questions.

Individual events all showed an increase in profits from 2006 except for the stock car races.

Profits for each event include: Moore's Greater Shows Carnival, $11,706 compared to $10,594 last year; the Wild Horse Races and Steer Riding, $2,462 from $1,460; Rodeo, $2, 575 from $1,159.

Profit from the stock car races declined from $3,491 in 2006 to $1,369 this year.

In other business, commissioners granted the request from Red Willow County Clerk Pauletta Gerver to open the clerk's office Nov 12, the day before the special election, for the city sale tax, for early voters. The courthouse would normally be closed for Veterans Day.

This would result in compensation time for only one county employee as only the county clerk's office would be open for early voting.

She also told the board that the City Manager Kurt Fritsch offered to have city crews set up the nine polling places on Monday, as the city doesn't observe Veteran's Day, but she thought that at least one county employee should help. She expressed her wish to have several polling places set up by Friday.

Marleen Garcia, Red Willow County Treasurer, presented copies of delinquent tax letters mailed to 61 corporations.

The commissioners also adopted a resolution to assign county sales certificates for 18 properties with delinquent real estate taxes. These are properties with delinquent taxes for two or more years that were not sold in public or private sales and the resolution begins the process the foreclosure.

Garcia also presented a tax roll correction of $81.34, the 25th correction. This was approved unanimously by Commissioners Leigh Hoyt, Earl McNutt and Steve Downer.

On the consent agenda, a health insurance claim was approved by the board and Erik Templin and Ray Meyer, of CBSA/Performax presented a three-month summary of health insurance costs from June to August 2007. They encouraged the board to mandate all employees and spouses to have blood work done by the County Health Department as the cost was so reasonable.

Commissioners discussed the possibility of higher deductibles in combination with a health savings account, but no action was taken.

A claim for Regional Health Care, Inc. for a $15,912 claim was approved by the board.
