Dundy boys, MV girls claim GPAC track titles

ARAPAHOE -- Nine area teams competed in the Great Plains Activity Conference in Arapahoe Monday. Dundy County's boys and Medicine Valley's girls earned the GPAC titles.

Heather Wills led the Medicine Valley team with two wins. Wills won the long jump and triple jump.

Kallie Welch and Liz Jorgensen also took home wins. Welch won the shot put and Jorgensen took the discus.The girls also won the 4x400 relay and were third in the 4x100.

Dundy County's girls finished in second, Hitchcock County was third and Wauneta-Palisade was fourth. Southwest rounded out the top five, Wallace took sixth and Maywood was seventh. Arapahoe took eighth and Hayes Center was ninth.

Tasha Boon and Brooke Hansen took first place wins for the Tigers. Boon won the 3200 and Hansen took the 300 meter hurdles. The Tigers also won the 4x100 relay.

Blair Dixon took home three first place medals for Wauneta-Palisade. Dixon won the 400, 100 and 200 meter dashes. Lisa Faimon led Hitchcock County with two wins. Faimon won the 100 meter hurdles and the high jump.

Kyle Glidden earned two first place medals for Dundy County's boys. Glidden won the discus and shot put and teammates Steve Sander took the pole vault and Brandon Shirkey won the 3200.

Wauneta-Palisade finished in second, with Hitchcock County tailing in third and Wallace in fourth. Arapahoe ended the top five, with Hayes Center taking sixth, Maywood seventh, Southwest eighth and Medicine Valley ninth.

Wauneta-Palisade took the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Taylor Dixon and Christopher Crowell both took wins for the Broncos. Dixon won the 200 and Crowell took the long jump.

Sam Matson was a double medal winner for Hitchcock County. Matson won the 100 and 400.

Josh Kershaw and Tyrel Riggs also picked up wins for the Falcons. Riggs won the high jump and Kershaw took the 110 meter hurdles.
