Smoking, reading
Dear Editor,
Way to go, Robert ["Child-free zones" (http://www. mccookgazette.com/story/1190795.html)]. I feel the same way. I would much rather go to a diner full of smokers than a room full of tots screaming and yelling, causing one to have a nervous breakdown.
What I'm trying to say is, there is always something out there that you don't like, so you have a choice. You can go out there, or you can just stay home.
I have to agree with Mr. Peters ["Learning to read" (http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1190790.html)]. I remember sitting on the couch with my sister-in-law, sounding out words so I could read.
And, with her help, and many hours of studying the words, I was able to read books starting from the first grade on.
I always have a book laying around that I am reading. Sometime I will read two at a time. But I?enjoy reading, and because of my sister-in-law, I learned the greatest joy of life.
Cheryl Larreau,
McCook
