MCC women break 12-year NECC streak

MCCOOK -- The McCook Community College women's basketball beat Northeast Nebraska Hawks 60-43 Saturday night, the first time Northeast has lost a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference game in 12 years, and breaking Northeast's 74-game conference win streak.

The Indians attacked early with a 33-21 lead at half time.

MCC hit 50 percent from the field and 25 percent from three point range in the first half.

MCC outscored the Hawks 27 to 22 points in the second half.

The Indians shot 41 percent from the field in the game, made 25 percent of their three point shots and 52 percent from the free throw line.

MCC had three players in double figures Kamillia Brown leading with 13 points, Staci Moore with 12 and Amanda Terspstra scoring 10 and snagging 10 rebounds.

Heller led the Hawks with 8 points.

MCC will host Southeast Community College Saturday, with the women starting at 2 p.m. and the men tipping off at 4 p.m.
