Letter to the Editor

Why we ignored Saddam

Friday, January 5, 2007

Dear Editor,

Perhaps there is another reason that the national media does not delve more deeply into the other crimes of Saddam Hussein. ["We won't wring our hands for Saddam Hussein" (http:// www.mccookgazette.com/story/1183836.html)]

The U.S. supported and condoned Saddam Hussein's actions. Without the financial and logistical support of the U.S. Iraq could not have fought an eight year war with Iran. The materials used to make the chemical weapons came from the U.S. and U.K. Donald Rumsfeld, acting as a special envoy from Ronald Reagan was in Iraq meeting with Saddam Hussein during the time Iraq was using poison gas. Saddam Hussein was hurriedly executed so as to not implicate the U.S. and the U.K. in his crimes. Dead men tell no tales.

El Shaheed,
