Letter to the Editor

Enjoy new column

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

Dear Editor,

I was doing a Web search for several astronomy topics when my Google search returned a link to your newspaper and articles by Vernon Whetstone.

From the one article, appearing in October 2006, it appears that your newspaper has recently started a new astronomy column.

When typing in "Messier Objects" in to the Google News search, your newspaper was the very first hit I received.  Good to know your newspaper is getting out in the world, leastwise for those who are interested in this topic.

As an amateur as-tronomer, I enjoyed reading Mr. Whetstone's articles and would like to know if he plans to have them in other media, such as a Web blog or perhaps your newspaper may consider a RSS feed.

I would like to get his articles but do not know how often they are published, or when to check your Web site.

I live near Huntsville, Ala., and, unfortunately, have little need for the local newspaper from your area.

However, I am pleased that your newspaper is supporting those who may be interested in one of the worlds oldest sciences.

I belong to the Von Braun Astronomical Society (www.vabs.org), and work at Redstone Arsenal, where the Marshal Space Flight Center (MFSC) is located.   Huntsville is known as "Rocket City" and has very close ties to the aerospace and defense industries.

Thank you,

Rick Laws,

Athens, Ala.

EDITOR'S?NOTE -- Vernon Whetstone's column, "What's Up?", appears each Monday in the Gazette. It is available on our Web site, http://mccookgazette.com.
