HERNDON -- Melvin Eugene Kogl, 71, died Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2006) at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

He was born April 19, 1935, to Clemens (Clem) and Alvina (Nehring) Kogl in Herndon. He attended Herndon Schools and graduated from high school in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army for two years.

On Oct. 26, 1963, he married Regis M. Marintzer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon.

He resided in Lakewood, Colo., for 40 years. He worked fro NAPA Genuine Parts Company for 38 years, as a jobber service manager. He retired in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brother-in-laws, Peter Reinert and Roger Martinez; and a niece Marie (Reinert) Bransch Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Regis of Lakewood; one daughter, Michele of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Jamie and wife, Lisa of Lakewood, Colo.; two brothers, Clemens and wife, Rose of Culbertson and Tom Kohl and wife, Jean of Herndon, Kan.; two sisters, Dorothy Reinert of Atwood, Kan., and Eileen Unger and husband, Charles of Herndon; mother-in-law, helen Marintzer of Herndon; a brother-in-law, Dan Marintzer and wife, Jo of Hastings; and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon, with the Rev. Galen Long officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Hernon.

Memorials may be given in his name.

A parish vigil and rosary will be Sunday at 7 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood and Sunday after 6 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
