OBERLIN, Kan. -- Dorothy Knudson, 79, died Sunday (July 9, 2006) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born Jan. 1, 1927, at Hill City, Kan. to Ray A. and Gertrude (Brown) Cox. She grew up in Atwood, where she graduated from Atwood Public Schools.

On Nov. 26, 1947, she married Jack Knudson at Atwood. They lived in Colby, Hugoton, Rexford, Oberlin and Atwood. She was a school teacher and a homemaker.

She was a member of the Rexford Community Church, Atwood Methodist Church and Bridge Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, James Todd Knudson; and a brother, Marvin Cox.

Survivors include her husband, Jack of Atwood; two daughters, Juliann Groom of Atwood and Kimberly Juenamann and husband Larry of Chetopa, Kan.; one son, Thomas and wife Pat of Colby, Kan.; one brother, J.B. Cox and wife Ada?Lee Cox and two sisters, Ada Fae Bell and husband Jerry and Mary Jo Youngblood, all of Atwood; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Rexford Community Church in Rexford, Kan, with the Rev. Terry McGuire and the Rev. Lane Purcell officiating. Interment will follow at the Rexford Cemetery in Rexford.

Visitation is today from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the church in Rexford.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Atwood Public Library.
