Frederick 'Fritz' Mumm

Aug. 27, 1935 - June 22, 2006

SELDEN, KAN. -- Frederick "Fritz" Mumm, 70, died Thursday (June 22, 2006), at the family farm.

He was born on August 27, 1935 to Gottfried "Fred" Hubert Mumm and Sarah Helena (McDonald) Mumm in Selden, Kan.

He grew up on the family farm west of Selden. Frederick attended two country schools, Selden Grade and graduated from Selden Rural High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Elizabeth "Gail" Savage on April 30, 1960 in Denver, Colo. They returned to the family farm after their marriage, where Frederick farmed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Caleb Robert Long; two brothers, Paul; and Bernard Mumm; and one sister, Julianne Mumm.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Mumm of Selden, Kan.; two sons, Frederick Mumm and Dan Mumm and wife Anita of Selden, Kan. Three daughters Liz Meier and husband Peter of San Francisco, Calif.; Chrys Rall and husband Jerry of Selden, Kan.; and Mitzi Wachendorfer and husband Dan of Selden, Kan. Four brothers, Hubert Mumm of Achilles, Kan.; Clem Mumm and wife Pat of Colby, Kan.; Charles "Bud" Mumm and wife Vicky of Achilles, Kan.; and Kenney Mumm of Selden, Kan. Eight sisters, AnoGene Rogers and husband Gene of Rexford, Kan.; Josephine Douglas of Eaton, Colo.; Eleanor Rogers, of Selden, Kan.; Marge Roy and husband Gene of Atwood,Kan.; Delores Raille of Hoxie, Kan; Alberta Ritter of Dresden, Kan.; Clara Newton and husband Dick of Denver, Colo.; and Judy Smith and husband Gordon of Greeley Colo. and nine grandchildren.

Services were today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden, with the Rev. Dana Clark officiating. Burial will be at the Selden Cemetery.
