ARVADA, Colo. -- Harold E. Mayo, 82, died Monday (Jan. 23, 2006) at the Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

He was born March 13, 1923, in Furnas County to Frank and Georgia (VanHousen) Mayo. He graduated from Beaver City High School in 1940.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 148th infantry. He was honorably discharged in February 1946.

He worked as a radio dispatcher for the Nebraska Highway Patrol and for Coors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leo Dale Mayo; and a niece.

Survivors include his wife, Rouene Mayo of Arvada; two daughters, Rebecca Mayo and Charlotte Mayo, both of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; and many other friends and relatives.

Services will be Friday, 1:30 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City with Keith Theobald officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City.

Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Friday, prior to services, at the funeral home.
