Courtesy of UNK Dale Poore of McCook, left, was a member of the only undefeated, untied football team in the history of the University of Nebraska-Kearney and its predecessor Kearney State College. At right is UNK athletic director Jon McBride. The Kearney squad was honored in 2005 as a "Team of Distinction." Poore played a prominent role, earning all-conference honors at tackle in both 1955 and 1956. Following college, he went on to coach football at Benkelman for four years and served as principal at Arapahoe for 16 years. He closed his career as vice president for the Lincoln Federal Savings Banks in McCook and Benkelman. Dale and his wife Peggy reside in McCook.
