Irresponsible bill

Dear Editor,

We applaud our Sen. Ben Nelson for voting against the federal budget reconciliation bill.

The bill does not reflect fiscal responsibility.

It reflects fiscal irresponsibility and the profoundly misguided priorities in Washington.

It cuts critical conservation, rural development and energy programs; including support for farmer owned ethanol and wind power production. It shifts more costs to state and local government. 

Most troubling, Congress is making these cuts while increasing the deficit -- all so it can finance a tax cut for the rich and keep million dollar subsidies flowing to mega farms to help them drive smaller farms out of business.  

We applaud Sen. Nelson for voting against this fiscally irresponsible and anti-rural legislation.
