Talking points

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Dear Editor,

I want to be the first to congratulate Mr. McPhillips on is outstanding rebuttal of Mike's (Hendricks') 10/15/05 article. Apparently Mike was so worried about his fault based MSN liberal media biased article he had to gain access to readers options before Mondays paper was even printed so he could post another so called "factually based" response

I can't add much to Mr. Phillips reader's opinion other then to elaborate on a one of the Democratic "talking points," Mr. Bush's present approval ratings. Here Mike would like us to believe that his present approval ratings are a sign of lost confidence in the republican base. But are the numbers really that bad? Actually there not compared to the low approval ratings for the last seven presidents:

Johnson: 35%

Nixon: 24%

Ford: 37%

Carter: 28%

Reagan: 35%

Bush I: 29%

Clinton: 37%

As you can see Mr. Bush's base is holding remarkably firm, when you consider the constant liberal media bias, followed by months of bad news: hurricanes, gas prices and Iraq casualties (the only news MSN reports from that part of the world).

And let's not forget that the Democrats in Congress approval ratings are only in the mid-30s.

Thankfully for all Americans fuel prices have probably pecked and will slowly start coming down as more refineries come on line.

Iraq with the apparent approval of their new constitution will continue to stabilize and troops will start coming home and absent any more natural disasters the economy will continue to expand.

This may be bad news to Democrats, but its certainty good news for America.
