Musician, colonel inducted into MHS Bison Hall of Fame

A Strategic Command officer and an accomplished musician are the latest inductees to the McCook High School Bison Alumni Wall of Fame.

They are Col. Linda S. Aldrich, Class of 1969, and Stanley Hasty, Class of 1937.

Engraved plagues featuring photographs and a description of Aldrich's and Hasty's accomplishments will be on permanent display on the wall near the MHS auditorium.

Aldrich

COL. ALDRICH

Col. Linda S. Aldrich is the Liaison Officer to the United States Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Nebraska, for the U.S. Northern Command.

She is key communicator for command intersect issues such as missile defense, information operations and commands and control.

Previous assignments include Senior Military Advisor to the Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee for the 2001 presidential inaugural events. Colonel Aldrich has served as instructor for the Minuteman II weapon system as well as Space & Missile Orientation and Missile Combat Crews. She was selected to provide testimony to the Presidential Commission on the Assignments of Women in the Armed Forces.

Commissioned since 1982, she is the recipient of the Defense Superior Service Medal in addition to several Meritorious Service, Commendation, Achievement and Readiness medals.

Linda's parents, Gladys and Ray Aldrich, live in McCook.

Hasty

STANLEY HASTY

After leaving McCook High School, Stanley Hasty continued his education at Eastman School of Music and Julliard Graduate School.

He was principal clarinetist and soloist with six orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC. His longest tenure was 15 years with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in Rochester, N.Y., during which time he also served as Professor of Clarinet at the Eastman School of Music.

Five other schools benefited from his clarinet expertise including Julliard School of Music -- New York, and the New England Conservatory of Music -- Boston.

Mr. Hasty has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada as recitalist, lecturer, clinician and adjudicator. The name Stanley Hasty is included as instructor on the web pages of many of today's prominent clarinetists.

Hasty lives in Rochester, N.Y.

The Wall of Fame committee wants to add to the pool of nominees. Nominees are individuals who have been out of high school for at least ten years and who have contributed significantly to his or her community and/or profession.

A letter of nomination should include the candidate's name, address, phone number (optional) and graduating class year, as well as a paragraph outlining significant contributions. Nominations must be signed and dated and include a phone number of the nominating party for future clarification.
