Letter to the Editor

Attaboys all around

Friday, July 22, 2005

Dear Editor,

I live in Portland, Oregon now.

I was born in Omaha in 1942. My father, Bob Klindworth, "the cat" was a sports reporter at the Gazette, before moving to the World Herald prior to my birth.

I was adopted after he was shot down and died from wounds in World War II, hence the name Perrill. My mother, Dorothy Clark, grew up in McCook; my father in Alliance, both attending high school in the 1930s.

I am a corporate pilot now, flying turbo jet airplanes for a family/business in Portland.

This story ("Skilled crews in air, on ground save plane" http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1109870.html) is America's story. These folks have "yankee ingenuity."

Stories like this and the people concerned are the reason America has young men like my dad and the young men of this story who see it through to success. I am proud to respond; I am thankful that all of you worked it out to a "happy landing."

Attaboys all around. you make us all in aviation feel the pride of your "out of the box" ingenuity. Bravo!

Doug Perrill,

Portland, Oregon
